Chelsea demanding €50 million to sell Renato Veiga

Chelsea will reportedly demand around €50 million to part ways with 21-year-old Portuguese utility man Renato Veiga, with Juventus seeking a permanent move this summer.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttosport, Renato Veiga is the subject of interest from Juventus over a possible permanent move in the summer transfer window. The Portuguese utility man has been a solid performer at the heart of the Serie A club’s defence since arriving on loan from Chelsea in the winter transfer window. The Blues want €50 million to part ways with the youngster.

Renato Veiga and a whirlwhind 2024/25 season

Renato Veiga has resurrected his stuttering fortunes since joining Juventus on loan from Chelsea until the end of the 2024/25 season. The youngster spent only six months with the West London club before seeking a winter departure from Stamford Bridge, as he wanted to play as a centre-back instead of a full-back or midfielder.

While Veiga’s versatility makes him a utility man, he prefers playing as a centre-back. That has happened at Juventus, with the 21-year-old turning out nine times thus far for Juventus, missing only one game when fit and available.

The Portuguese international has compelled Juventus to seal a permanent move in the summer transfer window. While recent reports have claimed that Chelsea might not accept a permanent exit, they have set an asking price for his departure, demanding €50 million to part ways with him in the coming months.

Permanent Serie A move beckons?

Juventus’s desire to seal a permanent move for Renato Veiga is understandable. The Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing multiple departments in the summer transfer window, with goalkeeper the only position they might not reinforce. So, the Chelsea loanee has emerged as a viable option for the Bianconeri.

The versatile defender also emerged as a target for other European bigwigs heading into the summer transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur recently showing interest in him. However, the opportunity to seal a permanent move to Juventus might appeal to Veiga.

Chelsea’s asking price of €50 million is understandable, considering Veiga’s age profile and potential. It will be interesting to see if Juventus will fork out €50 million to seal a permanent move for the 21-year-old Portuguese utility man.
