Predicted Manchester United lineup against Newcastle United: Bayindir in for Onana; Mount to start

Altay Bayindir and Mason Mount will return to the Manchester United starting lineup against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday.

Manchester United will be desperate for a first win since the international break when they lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday evening. Ruben Amorim has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Six first-team players are on the sidelines for the trip to St. James’ Park, with Amad Diallo the most notable absentee due to an ankle injury. The Ivory Coast international accompanies Matthijs de Ligt (foot), Jonny Evans (back), Ayden Heaven (foot), and Lisandro Martinez (knee) in the treatment room.

While the fitness issues are easing, Amorim has little bandwidth to rotate his troops against Newcastle United this weekend. During his pre-match press conference, the Portuguese tactician discussed the possibility of making substantial changes to the starting lineup.

The Manchester United manager said, “No, I think it’s [the squad] the same. There’s a great responsibility. We don’t have a team that is really big to do that [rotate], and then we have some players that I know that cannot make 90 minutes in this moment still.”

“We have be careful, so we will try to address all these subjects in the game against Newcastle. But we have a great responsibility when we play any game, so I will try to look at that. That is for sure. But we have to face Newcastle with a team that we can be competitive, and to win the game.”

Meanwhile, Amorim also addressed the topic of handing Bruno Fernandes some much-needed rest. The Manchester United boss said, “It’s an evaluation. We’ll make this evaluation with all the staff, with all the data that we have, and then because we know already the players, we will try to protect the ones that it will be hard to make a lot of games.”

“But Bruno Fernandes is playing all the time and he’s playing better all the time. Sometimes, this kind of player has to play in every match. But we will address that in these days that we have to prepare.”

Bruno Fernandes should retain his spot despite playing every game, lining up alongside Manuel Ugarte in the central midfield spots. Joshua Zirkzee should lead the line for Manchester United against Newcastle United, with Mason Mount and Alejandro Garnacho providing creative support.

As for the defensive unit, Victor Lindelof will make a rare start, lining up alongside Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui in the central defensive unit. Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu will continue as the two wing-backs. Finally, Altay Bayindir will replace Andre Onana between the sticks, with the Cameroonian international getting away from the spotlight after a controversial week.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Bayindir; Mazraoui, Lindelof, Yoro; Dalot, Bruno Fernandes, Ugarte, Dorgu; Garnacho, Mount; Zirkzee
