Predicted Chelsea lineup against Ipswich Town: Jackson to return; Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez in midfield
Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Nicolas Jackson will return to the Chelsea starting lineup against Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Chelsea will aim to return to winning ways when they welcome Ipswich Town to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Enzo Maresca has no new injury concerns hampering his preparations ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Wesley Fofana and Romeo Lavia are the only absentees for the home side. While the former will not play again this season, the latter should return in the foreseeable future for the final month of the 2024/25 campaign.
Maresca should ring in the changes this weekend after resting several players for the UEFA Europa Conference League clash with Legia Warszawa earlier this week. However, during his pre-match press conference, the Italian tactician focused on discussing how he would manage Nicolas Jackson.
The Chelsea manager said, “We need to manage him because you can see his importance to us. It was harder playing games without him because he is that kind of striker who is always a threat to the opposition’s defensive line, and he is also very aggressive off the ball. With Nico, I think we are a better team, so we are going to try to manage him until the end.”
Maresca also spoke about a potential problem of chance creation. He said, “Overall, this season, we have created enough. It’s just a matter of scoring the goals. Sometimes you have to score goals from outside the box, because teams defend the box very well. Brentford, for most of the game, had 11 players inside the box, so it’s difficult to find space and solutions.”
Nicolas Jackson should return to the Chelsea starting lineup, leading the line for the home side against Ipswich Town on Sunday. Cole Palmer will reprise the no. 10 role, with Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke being the two wide attackers. As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in the double pivot.
Robert Sanchez should replace Filip Jorgensen between the sticks, with the home side lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Ipswich Town on Sunday. The backline will likely feature Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella.
Predicted Chelsea XI: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Fernandez, Caicedo; Madueke, Palmer, Sancho; Jackson
