Bruno Fernandes committed to Manchester United amid Real Madrid links

Bruno Fernandes reportedly does not want to leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window amid his links with Real Madrid.

According to a report by Football Insider, Bruno Fernandes is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are scouring the market for a creative midfielder heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Manchester United captain. However, the Portuguese international is determined to bring the glory years back to Old Trafford and remains committed to the Red Devils.

Bruno Fernandes has established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Manchester United from Sporting CP in a deal worth €55 million in January 2020. The highly productive playmaker hit the ground running at Old Trafford, and he has been a talismanic figure for the Red Devils in the last five years.

The 30-year-old has been a rare bright spot in a dreadful period for Manchester United, and he has carried the team in a horrendous 2024/25 campaign. The club captain has amassed an astonishing 16 goals and 18 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions, often pulling the rabbit out of the hat in the final third.

Meanwhile, despite his advancing age, the Portuguese international remains highly sought-after in the market. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in the Manchester United captain in the last few years, while recent reports have linked him with Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s interest in Bruno Fernandes makes sense despite his advancing age. Toni Kroos has left a gaping hole in the midfield unit at the Santiago Bernabeu since calling time on his glittering career. In addition, Luka Modric is almost 40, and he will hang up his boots in the near future.

So, Real Madrid should scour the market for a creative midfielder, with Fernandes emerging as a viable target. However, Los Blancos must look elsewhere, with the Manchester United captain committed to the Premier League club.
