Tottenham, Newcastle United enter Mohammed Kudus chase; player could be available for cut-price fee

Tottenham and Newcastle United are in the mix for West Ham United hotshot Mohammed Kudus ahead of the summer alongside other rivals.

According to Ghana Soccernet, Mohammed Kudus is attracting big interest from West Ham’s Premier League rivals ahead of the summer. Tottenham and Newcastle United have joined in the race for the Ghanaian attacker alongside the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, as the Hammers could potentially sell well below his release clause.

Mohammed Kudus has made a sufficient impression on suitors, who would be tempted to test West Ham United’s resolve over the attacker in the summer. The Ghanaian is thought to have a release clause in his contract, which the report claims to be at £80 million, something many of the interested parties are not willing to trigger.

West Ham are reportedly thinking about making a profit from the sale of Kudus if a good enough offer arrives. Arsenal were interested alongside Newcastle United and others ahead of January, although they were not realistically planning on a move in the winter window. Spurs are angling a move for a new attacker and could view Kudus as someone who can improve their side next season.

Tottenham does have the financial power to test West Ham’s resolve, although it will be on Kudus to decide whether he seeks a move there, especially if the north Londoners are without Champions League football. The Gunners retain an interest on paper, although any move will only be for a lower valuation that may not please the Hammers. The London side are reportedly willing to accept bids below the £80 million mark for the Premier League attacker.

Liverpool view Kudus as one of the options to replace Mohamed Salah should the Egyptian end up departing in the summer. The versatility in the attack of the Ghanaian attacker will be a tactical fit for most big teams, which does make him a promising name ahead of the summer, as Liverpool and Arsenal aren’t alone in the chase with Newcastle United.

Mohammed Kudus could be signed for a reasonable price

As per Football Insider, West Ham could view the summer window as an opportunity to make a swift decision on Kudus. The Ghanaian attacker has not had the best of seasons, posting only three goals in his 25 games for the Hammers this term. Hence, the London side are open to the idea of selling him for less than the £80 million release clause, as Tottenham and Newcastle United are the other teams keen.

The Magpies are in the market for a right-sided attacker, with Kudus’ profile certainly one that Eddie Howe would love to have in his squad. However, once again the finances involved will play a big role, and the same goes for Tottenham, Liverpool or Arsenal.
