Jarrod Bowen could force West Ham United exit to seal Liverpool move
Jarrod Bowen could consider leaving West Ham United if the opportunity to join Liverpool presents itself.
According to Mick Brown via Football Insider, Jarrod Bowen would be open to a move to Liverpool this summer. While he is happy at West Ham United, he won’t turn down the opportunity to join the Merseyside club as it will help him play at the highest level and push for major titles.
Bowen has only gone from strength to strength since joining West Ham at the start of 2020 from Hull City. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in the Hammers’ first team, but the 28-year-old has also become a regular for the England national team, thanks to his consistent performances.
He has nine goals and seven assists in his 29 outings this season. Bowen is one of the first names on their team sheet and seems content at West Ham. But his future has become a big talking point, as Liverpool seem keen on signing him.
Brown’s take on Bowen’s potential Liverpool move
Although he’s settled at West Ham, former Manchester United scout Mick Brown believes the 28-year-old wouldn’t shy away from a move to Liverpool if the opportunity arose.
While speaking to Football Insider, Brown said: “The chance to play for Liverpool would appeal to any player,”
“It’s an opportunity to win trophies and play at the highest level.
“He’s happy at West Ham, he’s very highly thought-of there and he’s getting in the England squad, so I don’t expect him to force a move through or anything like that.
“But if he didn’t want to make a move which would boost his career, I’d be very surprised.
“A footballer’s career is very short, so you’ve got to make the most of these opportunities.
“So I think he will be open to a move to Liverpool if it comes, but first there will have to be an offer which the club deem acceptable.
“What that price will be, I’m not sure, but he won’t come cheap that’s for certain.”
Liverpool could sign Bowen this summer
Bowen’s contract at West Ham runs until the summer of 2030, and he has no intentions of forcing a move away from the club. But if Liverpool do come knocking, he won’t turn down the opportunity to join one of the best clubs in the world.
The Reds are interested in the 28-year-old who can feature as a right-winger as well as a striker. They see him as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose future remains up in the air with his contract running out. He could also be a great alternative to their priority target, Alexander Isak.
If the Merseyside club manage to strike a deal with the London club, Bowen won’t turn down the opportunity to play for them. He would make the switch as it would allow him to win trophies.
Even though the 28-year-old is open to joining the Reds, they will have to fork out a massive fee to convince West Ham to sell one of their best players. The financial aspect will certainly be interesting to watch, especially if Liverpool decide to pursue his signature.
