AC Milan want to sign Renato Veiga from Chelsea

AC Milan are interested in exploring a move for on-loan Chelsea defender Renato Veiga after the Portuguese star impresses in Serie A.

According to Calcio Mercato, AC Milan could attempt to convince Chelsea to sell Renato Veiga in the summer. The 21-year-old versatile defender has been impressive during his short stint in Serie A while on loan at Juventus, with the Bianconeri are reportedly not considering a permanent move.

Chelsea made a calculated decision to loan out Renato Veiga in the January window as the 21-year-old versatile defender struggled for regular game time under Enzo Maresca. The Portuguese star who was signed as a left-back can also slot in as a midfielder, although at Juventus he has excelled as a central defender.

The physicality of the defender has impressed many suitors, although Chelsea were smart enough not to include a buy option in his loan deal. In Turin alone, Veiga has now played under two different managers Thiago Motta and Igor Tudor, with both those coaches starting him regularly as a centre-back.

However, Juventus are not expected to make the signing permanent, as the loan move was only designed for Veiga to provide cover for the injured Gleison Bremer. The Brazilian will reclaim his starting spot when he returns to fitness from a season-ending knee injury sustained at the start of the season, as Veiga’s future remains uncertain.

As things stand, Chelsea are not planning on selling Veiga, with the club probably thinking about reintegrating the 21-year-old versatile defender into their plans for next season. In any case, they will demand significantly if they end up putting him up for sale, as there;’s already big interest coming from AC Milan.

AC Milan interested in Renato Veiga

AC Milan are looking to make some changes to their backline, as Fikayo Tomori could potentially leave the club in the summer. Incidentally, Juventus are interested in the English defender, as the Rossoneri are now considering Veiga as the potential replacement for Tomori in the summer.

AC Milan would like to explore the possibility of signing the 21-year-old versatile defender in the summer, as all eyes will be on Chelsea’s asking price. The Blues are expected to demand significantly as making a profit on a player they acquired only last summer would make sense to their business model, although it remains to be seen how much Milan are willing to pay for the Portuguese defender.
