Fulham in transfer tussle to sign Valentin Rosier

Fulham will reportedly compete with Eintracht Frankfurt and a Ligue 1 club to sign 28-year-old French right-back Valentin Rosier from relegation-threatened La Liga club CD Leganes.

According to a report by French outlet Foot Mercato, Valentin Rosier is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old CD Leganes full-back has emerged as a target, and the Frenchman will be a free agent in a few months.

Who is Valentin Rosier?

Valentin Rosier has gone from strength to strength since joining CD Leganes from Besiktas last summer. A native of Montauban, the French full-back spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at five clubs and graduating from the youth division at Rodez AF.

However, the 28-year-old has struggled for stability throughout his professional career, turning out half a dozen clubs, with the latest spell coming with CD Leganes. While Los Pepinores might suffer relegation from La Liga this season, Rosier has been a rare bright spot, amassing nearly 2,500 minutes of game time across 30 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one goal and two assists,

Meanwhile, Rosier only signed a short-term contract with CD Leganes last summer and will become a free agent on July 1. The situation has piqued the attention of three clubs across Europe, with Fulham competing with Eintracht Frankfurt and a Ligue 1 outfit to sign the Frenchman in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Fulham’s interest in Valentin Rosier makes sense. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a right-back heading into the summer transfer window. While Timothy Castagne has been solid since arriving from Leicester City last summer, Kenny Tete will likely depart from Craven Cottage in the summer transfer window.

So, Marco Silva wants Fulham to sign a right-back in the summer transfer window. Several candidates, including Georgios Vagiannidis, have emerged on Fulham’s radar, with Rosier also a viable target for the West London club. In addition, the 28-year-old Frenchman’s impending free-agent status makes him an appealing option.

However, Fulham will face stiff competition from Eintracht Frankfurt and a Ligue 1 club for Rosier’s signature. It will be interesting to see where the French full-back lands if he leaves CD Leganes as a free agent in the summer transfer window.
