Chelsea initiate contact with Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Slovenian international Benjamin Sesko from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Benjamin Sesko is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues have initiated contact with the RB Leipzig striker’s entourage. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club will demand around £50 million to part ways with the Slovenian international, with Arsenal also keen on signing him in the summer transfer window.

Benjamin Sesko and his exploits with RB Leipzig

Benjamin Sesko has gone from strength to strength since joining RB Leipzig from sister club Red Bull Salzburg in July 2023. While the highly-rated striker experienced some teething problems and had to bide his time before becoming an undisputed first-choice starter for the Bundesliga club, he has not looked back in the last 18 months.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed an exceptional 2024/25 campaign thus far, contributing to 24 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions by finding the back of the net 18 times and providing six assists. Meanwhile, Sesko’s exploits for RB Leipzig have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the RB Leipzig striker, with Arsenal and Chelsea vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga club will demand around £50 million to part ways with the Slovenian international.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Benjamin Sesko is understandable. The Gunners are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit in the summer transfer window amid the profligacy of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. So, the RB Leipzig striker has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.

As for Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson has been a solid performer in the final third for the West London club, while Marc Guiu is a long-term solution. However, Enzo Maresca wants more firepower in the offensive unit amid uncertainties surrounding Christopher Nkunku’s future. So, Sesko is an option worth considering, with Chelsea establishing contact with his entourage.

Chelsea should have no qualms about meeting RB Leipzig’s asking price of £50 million to land the 21-year-old Slovenian international. It will be interesting to see if the West London club can beat Arsenal to Sesko’s signature in the summer transfer window.
