Tottenham opening to looking abroad for Ange Postecoglou replacement

Tottenham are widening their net in search of a new manager as they are looking at the overseas market to replace Ange Postecoglou.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are looking at the overseas market for a managerial option to replace Ange Postecoglou in the summer. The north Londoners have set sights on several current Premier League managers, but they are keeping their options open by widening their search in markets outside of England.

Ange Postecoglou continues to deal with the pressure of his job at Tottenham, with the club’s dismal season widely expected to cost the Australian his role. Spurs are currently 14th in the standings, as winning the Europa League is the only hope for Postecoglou to potentially save his job, as his role is currently safe due to their presence in that competition.

In any case, recent reports have strongly suggested Tottenham are already looking at options like Andoni Iraola and Thomas Frank, while Fulham boss Marco Silva is also high on their radar. The latter is reportedly in discussions with the Cottagers over a new deal amid Spurs’ interest.

Iraola is considered their priority target following an impressive two seasons with Bournemouth. The South Coast club are already planning talks over a new deal for the Spaniard, and should the Cherries make it to one of the European competitions and Spurs fail to, the chances of Iraola staying will rise exponentially.

As for Brentford’s Frank, it’s not the first time he’s been linked with a big club within the Premier League. Hence, he would only leave the Bees if a viable project is available, and at the moment the Spurs one is rather unstable.

Tottenham looking at overseas managerial options

Tottenham might be inclined to bring a Premier League-experienced manager at the helm should they part ways with Postecoglou, they are also looking at options from overseas leagues. The Australian will keep his role for now and maybe for longer if Spurs make it to the Champions League by winning the Europa League, although the club are keeping their options open.

There are no specific names from other leagues presented in the report, but there are some viable candidates from some of the top continental sides. Hence, the summer will give a bigger picture of Postecoglou’s situation, and as the current choices from the Premier League are harder to get, it won’t be surprising if Tottenham targets someone from outside of England once again.
